On paper this was an easy game for Celtic , Livingston sit at the bottom of the SPL with no wins and a total of 2 points from 2 draws. Couple this with the fact that Livingston have never beaten Celtic and you can understand why this turned out to be a easy romp in the sun.
Celtic looked good, Nakamura had his best game with some delightful passes and excellent twists and turns to get by opposition players. The whole team looked good Camara charging down the wing and creating chances and goals from the crosses he put across. Maloney's runs at defences always gee me up, Sutton certainly put in a shift in one of his other "Three Chris Sutton" roles Petrov showed why the Captain's armband should be stitched into his shirt IMO
However this was Livingston we are talking about here, nothing of any substance can be drawn from a easy win over what arguably is one of the worse teams ever to have played in the SPL.
We can only play and beat what is put in front of us and that's we did with a bit of style yesterday.
McManus "I can score them as well"
Lennon and Thompson out. Hartson on the bench, nobody seems to have a good reason as to why that was the case, still he got the last 10 mins and did not score ...shocking
We controlled this game from the very start and it looked like when and how many we were going to score....
After numerous chances Celtic forced their fifth corner of the match after 36 minutes and Maloney's delivery was flicked on by Sutton for McManus to head home from close range.
On the stroke of half-time Celtic scored the best goal of the game, half a dozen neat passes from back to front, Maloney turned and slotted a low shot beyond McKenzie. A goal to grace any game of football.
Half Time Livingston 0 - 2 Celtic
Celtic continued to play play some fabulous football after 51 minutes Camara provided an excellent cross for Zurawski to send a flashing header past the helpless McKenzie. Sutton drilled in the fourth goal on 62 minutes when a free-kick from Maloney broke to him off the defensive wall and the big Defender/midfielder/attacker/Goalkeeper/ programme seller found the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Celtic were knocking the ball around with ease and Livingston were run ragged and it looked as if it could verge on a embarressing score line for the Livi boys.
The last and final goal came from a superb pass from Maloney released Camara and the defender's low cross was missed by McKenzie and ran to the waiting Beattie at the other end of the goalmouth and the striker tapped the ball into an unguarded net.
Final Score Livingston 0 - 5 Celtic
Celticbhoy's Man of the match: Shaun Maloney for me, his runs at defence are what gets me going, love the direct play, at the heart of the best goal and seems to "trigger" our footballing players.
